His majesty was born on the 27th March, 1952 at Effurun-otor kingdom to his father, who was the king at the time of his birth (king Duku I).

At a tender age of 3 he lost his father, who was a notable merchant with substantial shares at John Holt Company. King Duku I was a disciplined man and was at a time the President of the Customary court of Appeal at Ughelli and Oleh. As a successful and no nonsense man, the wealthy king was perceived to be authoritative in nature. His reign was described to be glorious, due to the many positive developments which occurred during his reign at Effurun-otor kingdom. During his time, a very strong relationship was established between the Europeans and the natives. It would not be out of place to posit that king Duku I laid the foundation for the economic prosperity of his kingdom. After the death of his father, he went to stay with his uncle at the age of 11, a Policeman who worked at Sapele, Warri and Ughelli. The king who saw himself as a “Barrack boy” was more of a home boy’ but the taught experience prepared him for the challenges ahead. His mother who is still alive was the 19th wife of his father. While the father was 80 years at the time of marring her, she was 18 years old when she gave birth to king Johnson. The tragedy of not enjoying stable home care and love sharpened the mind and faculty of the young king into handwork, as he was determined to be great in life someday, just as his late father.
