HIGH CHIEF OBADIAH A. OFURUMAZI

High Chief Obadiah Ofurumazi is an advocate of peace through and through. His antecedents, honesty coupled with his calm mien would surely leave no one in doubt of his sterling qualities which have seen him overcome difficult odds to forge a headway for himself. He has served the nation as a member of the Nigeria Army from 1969-19988 and has continued in his service to the nation and his people as the paramount ruler of Ikarama clan in Okobia kingdom, Bayelsa State. His nomination as Niger Delta Peace Legend is indeed a welcome accolade for his years of meritorious service.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO PEACE, AND HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT

Since he assumed office as the paramount ruler of Ikarama clan, High Chief Obadiah Ofurumazi has seen his enclave enjoy tremendous peace and infrastructural development. One area where this is evident is in the area of education. Prior to his ascension, Ikarama had no secondary school. However, the clan has several schools in place today. This has led to a rise in the literacy levels of his people.

High Chief Obadiah Ofurumazi has been known as unifier from his time in the Nigeria Army. When he served at the Ikeja Cantonment, he was able to bring together all the military members of Ijaw extraction to form a common bond and camaraderie.  

High Chief Obadiah Ofurumazi plans to continue with his drive to get more infrastructural development across the clans in Ikarama. According to him, his new recognition as a Champion of Peace and Community Development in the region will propel him to more achievements on behalf of his people.
