HIGH CHIEF EKISAN SEIKUMO
High Chief Ekisan Seikumo is the Honorable Commissioner, Special Projects, Bayelsa State. He is also the Babarewei and spokesman of Kumbowei kingdom in Sagbama local council area of Bayelsa State. From humble beginnings, High Chief Seikumo has risen from the doldrums of life to become a selfless benefactor and a beacon of hope to many. He has been able to hone his innate talents by sheer determination and has put them to use on numerous occasions to not only resolve conflicts but to also foster peace and progress in his home community and in Bayelsa State in general. His conciliatory attitude toward conflict and his willingness to share with others from the resources that God has endowed him with, together with other stellar qualities has earned him this recognition as a Niger Delta Peace Legend.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO PEACE, AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
High Chief Ekisan Seikumo derives joy from making others happy. According to him, he does his humanitarian gestures without recourse to any benefit or gain. Some of his contributions to his people include attracting infrastructural development to his home community, sponsoring the cultural festival of his people and mediating in intra and inter communal disputes. He has also nurtured his leadership and problem-solving skills and has used them effectively for mentoring purposes as well as for promoting peaceful and harmonious co-existence amongst folks within his spheres of influence.
High Chief Ekisan Seikumo has always displayed an ownership mindset wherever he finds himself, earning him the respect, admiration and trust of friends and foes alike. According to him, “One can only serve God by serving humanity.”
High Chief Ekisan Seikumo is also a humanitarian and philanthropist and has been involved a several initiatives to empower the indigent and less-privileged within and outside his home community. He has also ensured that several of his people are empowered through various government interventions. He was recently nominated as the Bayelsa Man of the Year 2023 by the Bayelsa Media National Network for his contributions towards sustainable development across Bayelsa State.
High Chief Ekisan Seikumo is not resting on his oars despite his achievements. He aspires to attain to greater heights of responsibilities and plans to impact more lives with resources and wealth of wisdom. According to him, being nominated as a Champion of Peace and Community Development in the Niger Delta is only a call to greater service.
