High Chief Dr. Ayakimo Whiskey is a grassroots community leader in Bulugwa community and the Bikorowei of Tarakri Kingdom in Sagbama local council area of Bayelsa State. He is an embodiment of peace and is well regarded for his selfless service from his days as a unionist in the University and also during his time as a Commissioner in Bayelsa State. His recognition as a Niger Delta Peace Legend is a well-deserved accolade and a true reflection of his commitment towards peace and progress of his home community and indeed Bayelsa State in general.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO PEACE, AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
As a community leader and a grassroots politician, High Chief Dr. Ayakimo Whiskey has been involved in so many peace and reconciliation efforts within Tarakri kingdom. He is not just only a preacher of the gospel of peace, but he is also a practitioner of the ethos of peace. He has also been involved in multiple disputes ranging from land disputes to internal tussle for leadership positions in the kingdom. He has adjudicated and mediated in these cases without fear or favour to the parties involved. He always stands on the side of justice and peace. He once served as the electoral chairman during the electoral process to install the new paramount ruler in his kingdom. To his credit, the process was adjudged to be free, fair and transparent to all contestant.
Today, High Chief Dr. Ayakimo Whiskey serves a trusted adviser to the paramount ruler in his kingdom. His wealth of experience garnered from his time as a commissioner, and in the banking sector, has been put to use in advancing the course of peace and progress in the kingdom.
High Chief Dr. Ayakimo Whiskey is also involved in community and social works. During his time as a commissioner in Bayelsa State, he was able to attract several infrastructural projects to his kingdom. On numerous occasions, he has also collaborated with several sons and daughters of the kingdom in carrying out projects. He always contributes his quota towards any good cause that his being done in the community.
High Chief Dr. Ayakimo Whiskey believes that the reward for work is more work. He plans to use his new recognition to serve more. For him life is best lived when it is lived it is lived in selfless service to others.
