CHIEF TED OGHENEOVO UMUWIE
Chief Ted Umuwie is an amiable gentleman and a selfless community leader with uncanny wisdom for resolving conflicts and championing the course of peace. From humble beginnings, he has steadily risen from obscurity to relevance and has not relented from using his God-given resources and skills to contribute to peaceful and harmonious co-existence of his kinfolks in his home community of Olomoro kingdom and indeed the Isoko ethnic nation. His nomination as a Niger Delta Peace Legend is indeed a testament and a well-deserved recognition to the significant roles, he has played in bringing about peace and community development to his people.
BACKGROUND, AND EDUCATION
Chief Ted Umuwie hails from Olomoro in Isoko South local council area of Delta State and was born to the family of Late Pa. Simeon Umuwie. His formative years were quite challenging as well as exciting as he was raised by his grandparents. He had his primary education at RCM Primary School, Olomoro and then had secondary education at Notre Dame College, Ozoro.
Chief Ted Umuwie had his tertiary education at the Aba Polytechnic, Abia State and later at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Aba where he obtained his national diploma and higher national diploma in Business Administration respectively.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO PEACE, AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Chief Ted Umuwie is well-known in Olomoro kingdom for his ability to handled issues of conflict. He was regarded by his fellow indigenes for his ability to listen to all aggrieved parties before concluding. He has been able to use this attribute to great effect. Today, he currently serves as a trusted adviser to His Royal Majesty, the Ovie of Olomoro Kingdom and plays prominent roles in matters affecting the kingdom and by extension Isoko nation.
Chief Ted Umuwie is also known for his selflessness and his passion for helping the less privileged in society. He engages in philanthropy regularly and has put smiles on the faces of both his kinfolks and individuals around his sphere of influence. He has not held back from using his resources to benefit others as he believes that the essence of life is about helping others to live a better life as well.
Chief Ted Umuwie is optimistic about the future and plans to use this recognition as a legend of peace and community development in the Niger Delta to do more for his people. According to him, this award will serve as a catalyst for him to stretch his hands more in serving the needs of people beyond his immediate environment and Olomoro kingdom.
