Chief Nkenchor Okokene is the Inne (Pillar) of Owa kingdom in Ika North East local council area of Delta State. He is also a renowned civil engineer with over three decades of experience working with several multinationals. He is a currently a businessman with interest in diverse sectors and is also the Proprietor of Calvary Polytechnic. Over the years, he has dedicated his time and resources towards promoting peace within and beyond Ika nation. He has also displayed unwavering commitment towards sustainable human capital development through his diverse business interests located across Delta as well as his regular engagement with well-meaning stakeholders across communities in the Niger Delta region. His nomination as a Legend of Peace in the Niger Delta region is indeed a true reflection of the role, he has played in impacting lives within and beyond his immediate sphere of influence.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO PEACE, AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.
Chief Nkenchor Okokene has contributed immensely to peace and community development in Ika ethnic nation as well as the Niger Delta region. Through the Calvary Educational Institute (comprising of the Calvary Primary and Secondary School as well as the Calvary Polytechnic) and other business interests, he has been able to provide job opportunities and sustainable means of livelihood to families.
Chief Nkenchor Okokene also serves as a trusted adviser to His Royal Majesty, the Obi of Owa. He has represented the king on numerous functions and serves as a de facto chief of staff to his majesty. He uses his years of expertise as a seasoned civil engineer and astute businessman to provide useful counsel to the king. He also served as a special advisor to the immediate past Executive Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
Chief Nkenchor Okokene has served as member of several committees set to proffer solutions to the challenges that his people face. One of the recommendations that has been implemented by the state government was the conversion of the College of Education, Agbor to a full-fledged university. Other recommendations that was made by the committee, such as the use of flare gas to generate power, are current being looked into. He also serves as a member of a committee drafted to capture and document the Ika Philosophy.
On numerous occasions, Chief Nkenchor Okokene has been called to intervene in matters over land disputes and other forms of misdemeanours. He enjoys access and has regular audience with His Majesty, by virtue of his economic contributions to the GDP of the kingdom.
Chief Nkenchor Okokene has a deep love for the culture a traditional value of his people. He plans to use this recognition to extend his cultural heritage as well as his engineering expertise to other communities the across the Niger Delta region.
