Background

Arhavwarien town being the traditional headquarters of the clan, has many villages spread as settlement around the Eastern bounds of the old Western Urhobo Division. A notable kingdom among the Urhobo twenty-four kingdom that makes the Urhobo nation. From History, the Arhavwarien people are said to have migrated from Onyah, a town at the confluence of the River Niger and River Num in Ndokwa East local government area. It was from there they settled at Uto- Arhavwarien, from there again moved through Egwu creeks, spent some time at Egwu, then moved to the present settlement where they finally got settled today. The Arhavwarien people are pre – dominantly farmers and fishermen until western Education came where sons and daughters where being given shell Scholarships to school Abroad.

The Arhavwarien people has a unique Urhobo language accent that identiffies them in public world with rich cultural heritage which highly endear us with the following notable festival; Atigbo, lfie, Onyukun, Ephiowhe and Erhiorere. The people according to the United Nations accessment, adjorged the people to be very hospitable, friendly and highly educated in academics and other areas of life. The Arhavwarien people have great potential for tourism and development as presented by natural environment and endowment as an island. As the Arhavwarien Kingdom Festival Begins and runs through to the end of April, “it surely is an opportunity to reunite family and friends who may have lost contact with each other over the years. This therefore is a window of opportunity also for the indegine to properly connect with the Monarch and chiefs of the kingdom to brainstorm on how best to move the kingdom forward in attracting development and government presence to the kingdom. With notable politicians of the Delta State rulling party mindful of the present state of the kingdom, now then is the time to draw government attention to the needs of the Arhavwarien people.
